Summary
- Two men died after entering water to rescue children.
- The incident occurred at Seaton Carew Beach, Hartlepool.
- An inquest has provisionally determined drowning as the cause.

A tragic incident unfolded at Seaton Carew Beach in Hartlepool on July 12, where two men died attempting to rescue children from the sea.
Wayne Taylor, 38, and Ian Pascoe, 62, were pulled from the water by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). Sadly, they were pronounced deceased shortly thereafter.
The inquest, opened by Teesside and Hartlepool Coroner Paul Appleton, heard that police received a 999 call around 15:45 BST. A person reported a child being swept out to sea, and their husband entering the water.
Upon arrival, authorities learned two boys were playing when one was submerged and in distress. Both Taylor and Pascoe entered the water to save the child. A third man successfully brought the child to safety, but Taylor and Pascoe did not resurface.
The provisional cause of death for both rescuers has been stated as drowning, as determined by the ongoing inquest.
