A devastating collision on Common Lane, near the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire border, claimed the lives of two young women early Thursday morning. The incident, occurring around 6:20 am, involved a Vauxhall Meriva and a Suzuki Alto. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but sadly, two women in their twenties, occupants of the Suzuki, were pronounced dead.
The crash also left a nine-year-old boy, a passenger in the Suzuki, with injuries described as life-changing. He has been taken to the hospital for treatment. Three men traveling in the Vauxhall Meriva sustained injuries, with two of them suffering serious harm. The 18-year-old driver of one of the vehicles was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
