Tragedy struck Haluvagalu village on Sunday evening as two brothers drowned in the Tungabhadra River. The victims, identified as MG Manu, 19, and MG Prajwal, 18, were swimming with their father when they were swept away by the river's current.
Their father, Manjappa, a local farmer, witnessed the devastating event firsthand. He heroically managed to rescue his youngest son, Chiranjeevi, but was unable to save the older two brothers who succumbed to the powerful currents before his eyes.
Manu was a first-year Bachelor of Engineering student, while Prajwal was pursuing his Pre-University Course. The bodies were subsequently recovered and transferred to a government hospital mortuary. Local police visited the scene, and a case has been registered at the Haluvagalu police station as investigations continue.
