Trichy Cop Dies in Tragic Motorcycle Collision

A fatal head-on collision on Tuesday evening near Trichy resulted in the death of 55-year-old sub-inspector R Datchinamoorthy. The incident occurred around 8:15 PM when Datchinamoorthy's two-wheeler, traveling from Indira Nagar towards Poolangudi, crashed into another motorcycle near BHEL. He was rushed to Thuvakudi general hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Two individuals, identified as D Anbarasan, 22, and R Moorthy, 21, both from Thuvarankurichi, were riding the other motorcycle and suffered serious injuries. They are currently receiving medical attention. BHEL station police have initiated a case under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to rash and negligent driving and causing death by negligence.
Sub-inspector Datchinamoorthy, attached to the Thuvarankurichi police station, was on medical leave due to health issues. He is survived by his wife and two sons. His funeral was held on Wednesday in his native village of Kilakurichi, complete with full government honors and a 21-gun salute, attended by senior police officials.
