29 Aug
Summary
- Trainee pilot was just 10 flight hours from obtaining his license.
- The four-seater training aircraft crashed near the Ganga Barrage.
- Investigations are underway by AAIB and DGCA officials.

A promising aviation career was tragically ended for 28-year-old trainee pilot Abhishek Pujari, who died in an aircraft crash in Kanpur. Pujari was merely 10 flight hours away from obtaining his pilot's license after completing 190 hours of training. His family, from Panvel, Maharashtra, had been eagerly anticipating his return as a certified pilot on September 2.
The Tecnam P-2006T training aircraft, operated by Garg Aviation Limited, crashed at 12:10 pm on Thursday. The four-seater plane struck a boundary wall near the Ganga Barrage before falling into a field, resulting in its complete wreckage and the deaths of both occupants.
Teams from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have commenced investigations. They have secured the flight recorder and other critical equipment to ascertain the exact cause of the crash.
The crash also claimed the life of 29-year-old pilot Sachin Bhatia, whose family traveled from Vadodara, Gujarat. Postmortem reports indicated severe injuries and blood loss as the cause of death for Bhatia. Early findings suggest that survival might have been possible if the aircraft had not impacted the wall.
