Train Repairs Cause Major Sunday Travel Chaos
22 Feb
Summary
- More trains than usual require repairs, impacting services.
- Disruptions specifically affected the Norwich to Cambridge line.
- Signalling work also caused planned service alterations.

Rail services experienced considerable disruption on Sunday as train operator Greater Anglia warned of an increased need for repairs on its fleet. A significant number of trains required attention, leading to fewer services operating than anticipated.
The primary impact was felt on the line connecting Norwich and Cambridge, via Brandon, with the disruption expected to persist throughout Sunday. While a cancelled service between Lowestoft and Ipswich was reported to be returning to normal, passengers were advised to check their travel plans.
These issues were compounded by pre-planned signalling work that necessitated temporary bus replacements on other routes. This included services between Diss and Ipswich, and Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds. For passengers travelling between Norwich and Ely, East Midlands Railway accepted Greater Anglia tickets.
