Summary
- 2-year-old Leonardo Ricci dies after sweatshirt gets tangled in tree
- Nursery staff perform CPR for over an hour but unable to revive him
- British woman killed in Portugal by 'tornado' that struck campsite

On 2025-11-15T18:38:11+00:00, a devastating incident occurred at a nursery in Bibbiena, Italy, where a 2-year-old boy tragically lost his life. According to reports, Leonardo Ricci was playing in the garden of the Ambarabà Ciccì Coccò nursery when his sweatshirt became tangled in a tree, leading to his strangulation.
Nursery staff immediately performed CPR on the unresponsive child for over an hour, but were sadly unable to revive him. Leonardo was pronounced dead at the scene, as an air ambulance was racing to the nursery. The site was evacuated by police, and a coroner's investigation has been launched.
In a separate incident, a British woman was killed in Portugal just last week when a 'tornado' struck a campsite and hotel near Albufeira on the Algarve. The 85-year-old woman was initially reported missing before her body was found in the rubble. The freak weather event, which came as Storm Claudia battered the region, left 28 others injured, including British, Portuguese, and Spanish nationals.
Authorities have described the incident as an "extreme wind phenomenon," with a high probability that it was a tornado. Two others were seriously injured at the campsite where the British pensioner was found dead, while 19 were hurt at the Hotel Eden.
