On October 20th, 2025, a tragic incident occurred in Periyapatna, Mysuru, where two sisters in their early 20s lost their lives due to a poisonous gas leak from a geyser. The deceased have been identified as Gulpam Taj, 23, and Simran Taj, 21.
The sisters were preparing to attend an event and had gone to take a bath together when the accident happened. The bathroom they were using lacked proper ventilation, which led to the buildup of the poisonous gas. The incident came to light around 7 pm when the girls did not respond to their parents' calls.
The girls were immediately rushed to a private hospital, but they were declared dead on arrival. Their father, Altaf Pasha, is a resident of Bettapura village near Periyapatna town and works menial jobs to support his family. The family had been staying in a rented house for over a year.
The tragic loss of the two young lives has left the community in Periyapatna deeply saddened. Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the exact cause and ensure that such accidents do not occur in the future.
