Grieving Parents Seek Awareness After Son's Untimely Death in Car Crash

On November 12th, 2025, a devastating accident claimed the life of 6-year-old Abel Torres in Lawrenceville, Georgia. According to his parents, Karina Aquino and Juan Torres, the young boy was struck by a passing car after returning home from a birthday party.

The couple recounts the tragic events, explaining that Abel had wanted to take a quick bike ride, despite it being dark outside. Though initially hesitant, his father eventually agreed to let him go for a short lap around the neighborhood. Tragically, as Abel crossed the street, a neighbor's car hit him, with the driver reportedly traveling at a high speed in the dark conditions.

Aquino and Torres are now urging greater caution and awareness when operating vehicles, emphasizing that "a car is also a weapon." While the investigation is still ongoing, the Gwinnett County Police Department has indicated the crash was likely an accident, and no charges have been filed at this time.

Despite their immense grief, the family has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the community. Friends, family, and even strangers have donated money to help the Torres family with the funeral expenses for their young son. "We're very, very grateful," Aquino said. "We've been more than blessed."

The parents have also expressed forgiveness for the driver, stating that they believe in "forgiveness and in mercy, which is what Jesus would have done." As they navigate this unimaginable loss, they hope Abel's tragic death will serve as a lesson to others to be more vigilant and cautious when operating motor vehicles.
