Two Killed, Five Injured as Cruiser Crashes into Tree on Pune-Bengaluru Highway

On Monday, a tragic accident occurred on the Pune-Bengaluru national highway near Hosa Tegur village, claiming the lives of two people and leaving five others injured. The incident took place as a family was returning from a visit to the Mahalakshmi Temple in Kolhapur.
According to the authorities, the Cruiser vehicle carrying the family rammed into a tree, resulting in the deaths of Suresh Basavanneppa Tuppad, 65, and Mahantamma Basavanneppa Tuppad, 52, both from Gadag. The injured individuals, including Geetha Siddaramesh Asundi, Janani Suresh Tuppad, Keerthi Suresh Tuppad, Viraj Siddalingappa Tuppad, and the driver, Chetan Jadhav, were rushed to the district hospital for treatment.
Investigators suspect that the driver, Chetan Jadhav, may have dozed off at the wheel, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and crash into the tree. The local police, including SP Gunjan Arya and DSP Vinod Muktedar, visited the accident site and oversaw the rescue efforts led by PSI Siddaramappa Unnada and his team.
