A Russian toddler miraculously survived a terrifying 110ft fall from a high-rise tower block window in St Petersburg. The 18-month-old child was seen teetering on a windowsill before plunging towards the ground.
Two nurses, Anna Kabashova and Olga Artemyeva, acted swiftly, using a woman's coat as an improvised safety net to catch the falling child. The dramatic impact was captured on video, showing the child safely ensnared in the coat. He was immediately attended to and transported to a local clinic, then a hospital, where it was determined he was not seriously injured.
Witnesses reported the toddler had been attempting to open the window for approximately 20 minutes without adult supervision. His parents were reportedly visiting neighbors at the time, and his older brother was in another room. Safety locks were present on some windows but not the one the child opened.
The Primorsky District Prosecutor's Office has initiated an investigation into the fall, focusing on the parents' supervision. Social media users have hailed the nurses as heroes, with discussions arising about awarding them for their bravery.
