A tragic road accident on the A1 in Cambridgeshire has resulted in the death of a two-year-old child, casting a shadow over the festive period. The collision happened on the northbound carriageway near Stibbington Junction. A Toyota Auris had reportedly broken down when it was hit by a Volkswagen Touran, leading to the fatality and serious injuries.
Five passengers traveling in the Toyota were taken to Peterborough City Hospital, sustaining significant injuries. The driver of the Volkswagen, a 64-year-old man, received minor injuries. He has since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released on bail.
