Tiger Attack Kills Elderly Woman in Forest

An elderly woman, identified as Yamuna Madavi from Padmapur village, was found dead on Friday morning in the Padmapur forest beat. She had been missing since Wednesday morning after going to collect broom grass. Her mutilated body was discovered in compartment No. 1156 of the forest area.
Forest officials confirmed that a tiger attack was responsible for her death. The Brahmapuri forest division conducted a preliminary inquiry and sent the body for an autopsy. As a measure of immediate support, the forest department disbursed Rs2.25 lakh to the victim's family.
This incident highlights the ongoing human-wildlife conflict in Chandrapur district. So far this year, four people have lost their lives in wildlife attacks, with three of these attributed to tigers. In 2025, the district recorded a total of 47 wildlife-related deaths.
