18 Mar
Summary
- Survivor claims Cybertruck design flaw trapped him in burning vehicle.
- Three college students died in the fiery crash in Piedmont, California.
- Lawsuit alleges Tesla knew about door handle risks for over a decade.

A lawsuit has been filed against Tesla by Jordan Miller, the sole survivor of a devastating Cybertruck crash that resulted in three fatalities. Miller, 21, claims the electric truck's design trapped him inside the burning vehicle after it collided with a tree in Piedmont, California, during Thanksgiving 2024. The crash tragically claimed the lives of Soren Dixon, 19, Krysta Tsukahara, 19, and Jack Nelson, 20.
Miller alleges that the Cybertruck's electronic door handles, which lack a mechanical backup, failed to operate after the high-speed collision. His legal team contends that Tesla has known about the potential for occupants to be trapped for more than a decade. Miller sustained severe injuries, including burns, spinal fractures, and required extensive medical treatment.
Investigations by the California Highway Patrol indicated that driver impairment due to alcohol and cocaine, combined with excessive speed, led to the loss of control. A witness driving behind the group managed to rescue Miller by breaking the passenger window, but could not save the other occupants due to the rapidly spreading fire.
