Pollution Alert After Telford Fuel Tanker Fire
17 Apr
Summary
- Fuel tanker fire caused burning fuel to run down a Telford street.
- Specialist contractors are removing oil and deploying boom barriers.
- Pollution contained in Sinclair and Parker's Pools, minimal downstream impact.

Emergency teams were deployed to Telford on Tuesday following a fuel tanker fire that sent burning fuel down Marlborough Way. The Environment Agency confirmed that specialist contractors were employed to manage the spill.
These contractors worked to remove oil and deployed containment boom barriers to minimize environmental damage. Testing indicated that the majority of pollutants were successfully contained within two specific pools, identified as Sinclair Pool and Parker's Pool.
Environment Agency officers continued to monitor the affected watercourse. Initial results suggested minimal impact downstream from these containment pools. A nearby primary school was evacuated as a safety measure during the incident, which required five fire engines and took five hours to extinguish.
