Telangana Fire Department Shares Diwali Safety Tips as Firecracker Shops Surge

With Diwali just around the corner, the Telangana Fire, Disaster Response, Emergency and Civil Defence department has taken proactive measures to ensure the safety of citizens during the festivities. According to the latest update, the number of licensed firecracker shops in the state has increased from 6,439 in 2023 to 8,019 in 2025, a significant rise over the past two years.

To address this, the Telangana Fire Services department has deployed Quick Response Tenders (QRTs) on active patrol across key zones to enable rapid intervention in case of any incidents. Additionally, multipurpose fire tenders have been strategically stationed at major traffic junctions to ensure swift access and response. The fire control room is also functioning 24/7 to monitor and respond to emergencies, with citizens encouraged to report any fire incidents by calling the designated emergency numbers.

Vikram Singh Mann, the Director-General of the Fire Services department, has emphasized the importance of prioritizing safety during the Diwali celebrations. He noted that while the number of fire accidents during the festival has decreased from 164 in 2023 to 95 in 2024, the risks remain high due to the surge in firecracker shops. To mitigate these risks, the department has issued a comprehensive list of dos and don'ts for citizens to follow, covering everything from the purchase of certified firecrackers to the proper handling and disposal of candles and decorative lights.

As Telangana prepares to celebrate Diwali on October 23, 2025, the state's authorities are urging all citizens to exercise caution and follow the safety guidelines to ensure a joyful and injury-free celebration.
