- Strong ocean currents complicated rescue efforts by first responders.

A 14-year-old boy, Davoris Carter, with special needs has gone missing after entering the ocean in Wildwood, New Jersey, on Monday, June 1, while on a school trip. Several individuals were found to be in distress in the water, with one transported to the hospital and two treated on scene.
Rescue efforts commenced immediately, involving local first responders, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the New Jersey State Police. Despite extensive searches by boat and helicopter lasting for hours, Davoris Carter remains unaccounted for. Strong northward currents in the ocean posed significant challenges to the search teams.
Davoris' grandmother, Kenya Pippen, expressed outrage, citing a critical lack of supervision for the students on the trip. She stated that each student required one-to-one attention and that an adult briefly left Davoris unattended, leading to his entry into the water. She highlighted that the teen, who was reportedly due to graduate on Wednesday, was fully clothed when he entered the sea.
