A 17-year-old from Allentown, Pennsylvania, lost his life after a fatal jump from a bridge into Jordan Creek. The incident occurred on Thursday, May 28, when the teen jumped into the water with friends and did not resurface.
First responders were called to the scene near Basin Street shortly after 11 a.m. that morning. Search crews in boats were observed searching the creek, while onlookers gathered on the bridge. The coroner's office has identified the victim but will not release his name out of respect for his family.
According to a friend, the group had gone to Jordan Creek after school, and the tragic event unfolded when the teen jumped from the bridge. It was reported that the victim did not know how to swim. The section of the creek where the jump occurred was approximately six feet deep.
An autopsy was scheduled for Friday, May 29, by the Lehigh County Coroner's Office & Forensic Center. Authorities pronounced the teen dead at 2:21 p.m. near the 300 Block of Basin Street.
