Despite suffering severe injuries, the boy was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. The police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash. As part of their inquiries, an 18-year-old man was arrested.
The arrested individual has since been released on bail while the investigation continues. Greater Manchester Police are urging anyone with information, or who may possess relevant CCTV or dashcam footage from the time of the incident, to come forward and assist with their ongoing investigation.
