On Saturday, a 19-year-old individual suffered serious injuries after a significant fall of 20 meters within the Dovedale valley. Emergency services, including ambulance and mountain rescue teams, were dispatched to the scene near Derby. The teenager was airlifted to a Stoke trauma unit for immediate medical attention.
Coincidentally, the Derby Mountain Rescue Team was simultaneously involved in a search for a missing walker in the vicinity. A sibling had raised concerns after her sister, who was part of a coach trip, went missing after being last seen on Thorpe Cloud hill. Following the conclusion of the Dovedale incident, the mountain rescue team initiated inquiries.
Contact was successfully made with the missing walker via text message and voicemail, and she was located safe and well with her group in Ilam. Advice was provided to facilitate their reunion. The condition of the airlifted teenager remains unconfirmed.
