In November 2025, Holly Scott's life is a testament to resilience and the power of perseverance. Just eight years ago, the then-22-year-old pharmacy assistant was involved in a horrific car crash that left her fighting for her life.
On the night of July 2, 2017, Scott was on her way to her boyfriend's home when she swerved to avoid a kangaroo and slammed into a tree. She was trapped in the vehicle, and emergency responders feared she might not survive the night. Scott spent the next two weeks in an induced coma, undergoing multiple surgeries to repair her broken body.
After months in the hospital and a brain injury rehabilitation unit, Scott slowly relearned how to walk and talk. The crash left her with lasting physical and cognitive challenges, but she has refused to let it define her. Now 30 and newly engaged, Scott works as an assistant nurse at the same brain injury ward where she was once a patient.
Scott has also become a passionate road safety advocate, traveling across Australia to share her story and raise awareness about the devastating impacts of distracted driving. She hopes that by sharing her harrowing experience, she can inspire others to put down their phones and focus on the road, ensuring that no one else has to endure the same life-altering trauma.
