Shark Attack Survivor's Incredible Ordeal on Manly Beach

Andre de Ruyter, a musician, is in stable condition at Royal North Shore Hospital following a severe shark attack. The incident occurred on Monday, January 19, at North Steyne Beach in Manly. De Ruyter was surfing when the shark bit his right leg.
Members of the public quickly pulled de Ruyter from the water and began administering first aid. Two fellow surfers described hearing his shouts and seeing blood in the water before helping him to shore using their boards.
Surf lifesaver Sarah Lally applied a tourniquet and commenced CPR, noting de Ruyter was unresponsive. A trauma expert from the hospital was also present, assisting with immediate medical care, including blood and fluid transfusions.
