Electric Shock Claims Student Life During College Function

Tragedy struck a private engineering college hostel near Thudiyalur on Saturday night when a final-year student, A Amilthan, lost his life due to an electric shock. The incident occurred around 9 pm while Amilthan was attending the hostel's annual function and dancing near DJ equipment.
Another student, Saran, who attempted to rescue Amilthan, also received an electric shock but was subsequently discharged from the hospital. The deceased student's father has filed a complaint with the Thudiyalur police, naming the DJ organizers, the hostel warden, and the college management as responsible for the fatal incident due to alleged safety negligence.
Police have registered a case under sections 125(a) and 106(1) of the BNS and are investigating the matter. Three individuals involved with the DJ equipment – C Ranjith, M Jayasurya, and Kanishkaran Kumar – have been summoned for questioning.
