A tragic incident unfolded at the Gidhibas Eklavya Adarsh Residential School in Keonjhar where a Class VIII student, Amit Munda, passed away. The 14-year-old succumbed to injuries he sustained during a kabaddi match played on Tuesday. His condition deteriorated on Wednesday morning, leading to his transfer to health facilities where he was pronounced dead.
Following the tragic event, Amit's mother, Basanti Munda, lodged accusations of negligence against the school administration. The family's grief turned into protest as they initially refused to claim the body, demanding a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of Amit's death and accountability for those deemed responsible.
School authorities stated the student did not report his injury. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated an investigation, with local MLA Akhila Chandra Naik urging a proper probe. The situation created tension in the village before local administration and police intervened.
