Southampton General Hospital declared a major incident after a fire broke out early Sunday morning. Over 110 firefighters were involved at the peak of the incident.
No individuals sustained injuries during the fire. Patients from affected areas within the hospital were safely evacuated to secure zones on the premises. However, all planned outpatient appointments for Sunday have been cancelled, and the hospital is requesting visitors to refrain from attending.
The hospital's emergency department is currently redirecting patients unless their condition is critical.
