Snake Pass Roadworks Block Major Route

Derbyshire's Snake Pass is set to undergo significant ground investigation work, necessitating a road closure from June 15 to July 3. The route, connecting Glossop and Ladybower Reservoir, has been frequently impacted by landslips, prompting the county council's initiative to find a lasting resolution. During the closure, two drilling rigs will be employed to thoroughly assess the ground movement and its underlying causes.

This extensive investigation follows initial surveys at other locations along the pass. The findings are intended to inform a long-term repair plan. Derbyshire County Council is collaborating with partners to develop a permanent fix, acknowledging that "no simple solution" exists. While the closure is in effect, routine road safety work, including pothole repairs and drainage maintenance, will also be carried out.
