On Monday evening, a severe road traffic accident unfolded on the A146 Beccles Road in Hellington, near Loddon, involving a van and a sport utility vehicle. Six individuals sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision, which occurred at 17:24 GMT. The driver of the blue Renault Master van, a man in his 80s, sustained life-threatening injuries.
His passengers, a man in his 50s and another in his late teens, were also seriously hurt. The driver of the white XC40 SUV, a woman in her 60s, suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. Her two passengers, aged in their 70s and 50s, also sustained serious injuries.
All those injured, except for the SUV driver, were transported to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for treatment. The road was closed for several hours following the incident, reopening early Tuesday morning. Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.
