5 Mar
Summary
- Two sisters drowned at a popular beauty spot after separating from their group.
- Neither sister could swim but entered the water fully clothed.
- The coroner ruled their deaths accidental, possibly due to slippery rocks.

Two sisters, Hajra Zahid, 29, and Haleema Zahid, 25, lost their lives at a popular beauty spot in Snowdonia on June 11, 2025, after becoming separated from their companions. The women, who were students at the University of Chester, had traveled to the Afon Cwm Llan river pools.
An inquest heard that neither Hajra nor Haleema knew how to swim. They entered the water, which was described as extremely cold despite a very hot day, while fully clothed. Their friends raised the alarm when they could not locate them.
