20 Apr
Summary
- Dangerous floodwaters swept across San Antonio, causing road closures.
- NWS issued a life-threatening flash flood warning for the metro area.
- Over one to three inches of rain had fallen with more possible.

Dangerous, fast-moving floodwaters have inundated several areas of San Antonio, prompting numerous road closures and urgent advisories from local authorities. The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for the northern and eastern San Antonio metro area, extending into Comal County, highlighting the life-threatening nature of the situation and strongly discouraging travel. Loop 1604 experienced high water on both eastbound and westbound lanes, with one vehicle nearly submerged.
Authorities have closed ten roads across the city due to rising water, including Old Grissom Road and UTSA Boulevard, with barricades in place at several locations. Communities under the warning include Alamo Heights, Hollywood Park, and New Braunfels.
Between one and three inches of rain have fallen, and forecasters predict an additional one to two inches could accumulate. Despite the serious conditions, severe thunderstorms with large hail or damaging winds are not associated with this system. Residents are strongly advised to avoid unnecessary travel and to 'turn around, do not drown' to prevent flood-related fatalities.
