Heroic Rescue Saves Dogs from Raging Salem House Fire

A serious house fire occurred on Wednesday in the 800 block of Highland Avenue in Salem. Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire engulfing the rear of the structure. They were able to quickly bring the blaze under control, but the home suffered extensive damage.
Tragically, four cats inside the residence did not survive the fire. However, in a testament to the rapid response of emergency services, three dogs were successfully rescued. The dogs were immediately transported by Salem Police to a veterinary clinic for urgent medical attention.
The Columbiana County Humane Society praised the prompt actions of Officer Edgerton from the Salem Police Department for ensuring one injured dog received critical care. Officials acknowledged the emotional toll of such incidents and offered support to the affected families.
