Rutgers Student's Future Tragically Cut Short in Fatal Crash

A tragic head-on collision on Route 27 has claimed the life of Amber Torres, a 22-year-old Rutgers University student. Torres, a biological sciences major, was on track to graduate in May and aspired to a career in dentistry.
The incident occurred on February 17th around 10:36 p.m. near Deepa Auto Repair. Police reported that a 2013 Hyundai Tucson, driven by a 28-year-old man from Iselin, collided head-on with Torres's 2025 Nissan Altima. Torres was transported to Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Medical Center in Edison, where she was pronounced dead.
Also involved in the crash were a 21-year-old female passenger in Torres's vehicle and the 28-year-old driver of the Tucson. Both sustained serious injuries and were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. The Tucson driver is reportedly in critical condition.
