Riverside Firefighter Dies During House Fire Response

A brave firefighter from the Riverside County Fire Department tragically lost their life while on duty. The incident occurred as the crew responded to a structure fire in Nuevo, a community near Perris. Upon arrival, firefighters found the garage of the residence engulfed in flames.
During the response, the firefighter experienced a medical emergency and was immediately transported to a local hospital. Sadly, they were pronounced deceased at the hospital. The department has confirmed that two civilians also sustained minor injuries and were taken to a medical facility for treatment.
A procession to honor the fallen firefighter is planned for Wednesday afternoon in Moreno Valley. The identity of the firefighter has not yet been released by the department, pending notification of next of kin.
