Riverside Family Loses Livelihood in Fiery DUI Crash
11 Nov
Summary
- Cosio family's food truck and business destroyed in crash
- Husband suffered broken sternum, daughters still bruised
- DUI driver arrested after causing the devastating collision

On November 2, 2025, the Cosio family was traveling home from a two-day event in Chino when their lives were upended by a devastating crash with a DUI driver. As they were driving on the 15 Freeway near Lake Elsinore, a red pickup truck struck their vehicle head-on, leaving their food truck and family-owned business, Tacos La Herradura, completely destroyed.
In the chaotic aftermath, Raquel Cosio, the driver, recalls scrambling to ensure her family's safety and get them out of their own red pickup truck, which had become stuck on the center median. The other driver, a 31-year-old man from Escondido, was arrested for driving under the influence.
The crash has left the Cosio family struggling to recover both physically and financially. Raquel's husband suffered a broken sternum, and their two daughters are still covered in bruises from the incident. With their livelihood destroyed, the family is now relying on the support of their community and a fundraiser started by a friend to help them pay for medical expenses and lost income until they can get back on their feet.
As they wait for justice to be served, the Cosio family hopes that the DUI driver realizes the devastating impact of his actions and that the crash could have been much worse.
