22 Jun
Summary
- A 19-year-old restaurant worker died in an electric scooter crash.
- His mother remembered him as a loving son and generous person.
- His employer plans to honor his memory with a lighthouse.

Michael Earl, 19, was remembered as a "miracle baby" by his mother, Jessica Aiken, following his death on June 20, 2026. Earl tragically passed away after the electric scooter he was operating collided with a motor vehicle on Route 9 in East Brookfield. He had been working at The Clam Box restaurant for four years.
Aiken described her son as "full of laughter" and exceptionally generous, often giving to others even when he had little himself. He had purchased the scooter for independence, not wanting to rely on his mother. Earl was a key staff member at The Clam Box, known for his kindness and for making breakfast for his coworkers.
An informal vigil was held at Howard's Drive-in, attended by nearly 50 people, many of whom were Earl's colleagues. The restaurant's owner, Tim Dugas, announced plans to install a model lighthouse outside The Clam Box to commemorate Earl. Dugas also stated that employees would be offered grief counseling to help process the loss.
