15 Mar
Summary
- A man died choking on a rasgulla at a wedding feast.
- Frantic attempts to save him failed at the venue.
- Doctors confirmed airway blockage led to his death.

A wedding ceremony in a Jharkhand village was marred by tragedy late on Friday, March 14, 2026, when 41-year-old Lalit Singh died after choking on a rasgulla. Singh had been enjoying the festivities and food with other villagers shortly after midnight.
Witnesses reported that Singh began to gasp for air immediately after consuming a rasgulla, which had become lodged in his throat. Panic ensued as attendees attempted to clear his airway, but their efforts at the wedding venue were unsuccessful.
Due to his worsening condition, Singh was transported to MGM Hospital. Despite prompt medical attention, he could not be revived and was declared deceased. Doctors explained that the obstruction in his airway prevented oxygen from reaching his body, causing his death.
The post-mortem examination was completed on Saturday, March 15, 2026, and the body was subsequently released to his family. This unexpected loss has left the village in shock and mourning, overshadowing what should have been a joyous occasion.
