An ordinary day in Rajasthan's Dungarpur district turned into a life-saving event when Surta Parmar rescued a family from a submerged vehicle. A car carrying Dharmesh Yadav, his wife Shilpa, and their infant son Drish crashed into a 10-foot-deep pond.
Attracted by the commotion, Parmar witnessed the terrifying scene. Hearing the distressed cries of the baby inside the sinking car, and seeing the parents unconscious, she immediately jumped into the water. Her daughter assisted with ropes. Parmar bravely smashed a window and rescued the infant, followed by his parents.
Paramedics rushed the family to a local hospital. While the infant was discharged quickly, the parents required surgery for multiple fractures but were later reported to be out of danger. The family's uncle stated they likely would not have survived without Parmar's swift intervention.
Parmar, however, modestly stated she acted out of humanity, not heroism. Having experienced childhood loss herself, she was deeply moved by the baby's plight and could not stand by helplessly. Her actions underscore the power of empathy in critical moments.
