Election Duty Stress Claims Another Life in Rajasthan

In Rajasthan's Karauli district, Santram Saini, a 45-year-old school lecturer performing duties as a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) supervisor, passed away on Wednesday night after experiencing sudden chest pain at his home. His family has informed the police that Saini was under significant mental pressure attributed to the demanding workload and perceived pressure from superiors related to the electoral roll revision exercise.
Family members further stated that Saini had recently received a notice concerning his involvement in the SIR drive and had exhibited a more subdued demeanor in the preceding days. Although the family communicated these concerns to the police, they did not file a formal complaint. A post-mortem examination was conducted at the district hospital.
This unfortunate event marks the second recent fatality among election staff engaged in intensive revision duties. Just a day prior, a Booth Level Officer in Sawai Madhopur succumbed to a heart attack while on similar duty. These incidents have collectively amplified anxieties and concerns among personnel involved in the ongoing electoral revision process in the region.
