The Pulse Memorial in Orlando, Florida, designed to honor victims of the 2016 nightclub shooting, is scheduled to open in late 2027. Following the demolition of the original building in March 2026, the City of Orlando is leading the memorial's creation, with design finalization expected by August and construction beginning in September. The memorial's design process includes input from survivors and victims' families.
The memorial seeks to be an inclusive, life-affirming space that remembers the 49 lives lost. City officials hope it reflects a community response of love, compassion, and unity. Remnants from the Pulse nightclub will be embedded throughout the site, and a granite water wall etched with the names of those who perished will border a reflecting pool mirroring the original dance floor's dimensions.
A 49-foot illuminated tower will serve as a beacon, topped with a glass representation of the Pulse nightclub sign. The memorial also features an Angel Ellipse walkway, with each victim memorialized by name and country of origin flags. A Visitor Pavilion will showcase the nightclub's vibrancy through monitors, photos, and preserved artifacts, offering a choice for those who might be triggered by past club scenes.
