Power Surge Causes PATCO Train Suspension in South Jersey

The outage, which occurred around 7:40 AM ET, was caused by a power surge that affected the Westmont Station, leading to the suspension of trains running between Lindenwold in Camden County and 16th and Locust streets in Philadelphia.
PATCO, the rail service connecting the two regions, first alerted passengers about the delays and suspensions through social media. After over two-and-a-half hours of disruption, services were finally restored around 8:00 AM ET as crews worked to identify and repair the issue caused by the power surge.
The power surge had led to several fuses at the Westmont station being blown, halting PATCO's operations. Diagnostic crews were able to quickly pinpoint the cause, and repair crews were called in to fix the problem. During the suspension, PATCO also informed passengers that NJ Transit was cross-honoring their tickets to help commuters reach their destinations.
