254K Pool Dive Sticks Recalled Over Injury Risk
17 Jun
Summary
- 254,000 pool dive sticks recalled due to injury risk.
- Hard plastic toys can cause severe injuries in shallow water.
- Consumers can get replacements by emailing a photo of discarded toys.

Federal safety regulators have issued a recall for 254,000 pool toy dive sticks, citing a significant risk of serious injury to children. The affected products, Sloosh dive sticks sold by Joyin U.S. Corp., were found to exceed compression limits, making them potentially dangerous, especially in shallow water. A federal standard exists to prevent such injuries, with a ban on certain dive sticks in place since 2001.
The hard plastic, cylinder-shaped toys pose a risk of impalement if a child falls on them, and can also cause facial or eye injuries. These dive toy sets were sold online for $17 to $22 between February 2019 and October 2025. No injuries have been reported to date, but consumers are advised to stop using the sticks immediately.
Model number 40041 is the only product affected by this recall. Beyond the immediate safety hazard, the recall also draws attention to the environmental impact of recalled plastic toys. An estimated 1.5 billion pounds of toys are discarded annually in the U.S., contributing to landfill waste and the potential for microplastic pollution.
To obtain replacement dive sticks that meet federal regulations, consumers must discard the recalled items, photograph them, and email the image to support@joyin.com. The manufacturer will then send redesigned, safer dive sticks.
