Witnesses reported that paramedics attempted to save the two victims, identified as parents, who succumbed to their injuries. Their two children, aged around 10 and 12, managed to escape the inferno but were hospitalized. Thankfully, the children were later released from medical care.
The city is coordinating with the school district to support the displaced children, many of whom are facing the holidays without homes. Temporary shelter is being provided by the Red Cross at the Plainfield Performing Arts Center, with support staff available for grief counseling at local schools.
