Paul Hardcastle Jr., the 35-year-old son of 80s music legend Paul Hardcastle, has died following a motorcycle crash that occurred after a police pursuit. The collision involved a motorbike and a van on the A414 near Bobbingworth on Monday evening, just after 6:30 PM. Essex Police confirmed the rider, identified as Paul Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident has prompted an independent investigation by the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC). The IOPC confirmed they were notified of the pursuit and subsequent fatal collision and have begun gathering evidence to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash. The driver of the van involved was arrested but subsequently released under investigation.
Paul Hardcastle, best known for his 1985 chart-topper '19', publicly mourned his son on Facebook, describing him as a 'super talented' professional saxophone player. Paul Jr. had followed in his father's musical footsteps from a young age, achieving chart success himself with his debut single produced by his father.
