A tragic incident occurred in Palghar district on Friday afternoon, resulting in the deaths of two women. The victims, identified as Lata Nilesh Tare, 45, and Baby Chandrakant Jadhav, 65, were walking home from a local market on the Nandore-Navapada road.
They were fatally struck by a speeding pickup tempo. According to police, the 24-year-old man driving the tempo was reportedly in the process of learning to operate the vehicle. He lost control, causing the tempo to veer from its lane and collide with the pedestrians.
Both women sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver has been taken into custody by the authorities. A case is currently being registered as a further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident continues.
