An explosion at a metal fabricating plant in Washington County, Pennsylvania, on Thursday evening resulted in injuries to at least four people. The incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. at the Langeloth Metallurgical Company facility on Langeloth Road in Smith Township.
Officials stated that the explosion happened during a chemical transfer operation from a tanker to a stationary tank. A hazardous materials team and environmental agencies were called to the site. A temporary shelter-in-place order was issued for the Langeloth neighborhood as a precaution against a potential release of hydrogen peroxide, but this notice was subsequently lifted.
