Four Sue After Deadly Nursing Home Blast

Four people injured in a devastating explosion at Bristol Health & Rehab Center on December 23rd have initiated legal action against the nursing home and PECO Energy Company. The lawsuit asserts that the defendants were negligent, having allegedly known about a gas leak and failing to evacuate the premises or address the hazard. This blast tragically claimed the lives of a resident and a worker.

The legal complaint, filed in Philadelphia court, contends that the gas leak had been present for days, originating from the boiler room. Plaintiffs argue that the decision not to evacuate immediately was reckless, particularly given the vulnerable population within the facility, many of whom have limited mobility.

Authorities confirmed that a PECO crew was investigating a reported gas odor when the explosion occurred. The exact cause of the blast remains under investigation, with PECO stating it is unclear if their equipment or natural gas was involved. Approximately 100 residents were relocated to other nearby facilities following the incident.
