A significant explosion occurred at the Abundant Life Fellowship Church in upstate New York on Tuesday morning, resulting in five injuries. The blast happened around 10:30 a.m. in a rural area approximately 50 miles northeast of Syracuse.
Emergency responders were initially called to the scene due to reports of a gas odor. Among those injured is a firefighter who was responding to the odor and is now in critical condition. Three other individuals received treatment for injuries not considered life-threatening.
New York State Police are actively investigating the cause of the explosion. Initial assessments indicate that propane cylinders may have been used for the church's heating system. The explosion caused thick plumes of black smoke and substantial damage to the church structure. At this time, there is no evidence suggesting any criminal activity related to the incident.
