- Tremors were felt up to hundreds of kilometers away.
- This quake is considered significant for the Orange region.

A significant earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 recently shook parts of Australia's east coast. The seismic event occurred at 8:19 PM, approximately 30 kilometers southwest of Orange in central-west New South Wales, and was registered at a shallow depth of 5 kilometers.
Geoscience Australia reported receiving over 2,000 accounts of the tremors. These were described as weak to light and were perceptible as far as Batemans Bay, situated hundreds of kilometers to the southeast. Experts highlighted the rarity of such an event in this specific area.
Senior seismologist Phil Cummins noted that only five earthquakes within a 50km radius of the epicenter have been recorded since 1977, with the last notable one being a 4.3 magnitude in 2017. He confirmed this current event is considered large for the region, with some reports even terming it "record-breaking."
Aftershocks are anticipated, though they are expected to be considerably less intense and felt over a more limited geographical area.
