Summary
- Norte Fire has burned 570 acres with 5% containment achieved.
- At least six homes were destroyed by the fast-moving blaze.
- Two firefighters sustained serious injuries but are stable.

The Norte Fire, which erupted on Friday, continued to spread through San Juan Capistrano on Saturday morning, with crews actively working to contain the 570-acre blaze. As of Saturday morning, the fire was only 5% contained, despite overnight efforts by firefighters to gain ground. Evacuation orders and warnings remained in effect for several San Juan Capistrano and San Clemente zones, as the fire had already destroyed at least six homes.
Two firefighters were hospitalized due to significant injuries sustained while battling the flames; however, their conditions are reported as stable. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. State and federal assistance has been secured, including a Fire Management Assistance Grant from FEMA, to bolster response efforts.
The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning, indicating high fire danger due to strong Santa Ana winds and dry conditions, which was expected to remain in effect through Saturday evening. Power outages affected hundreds of customers in the area, and water conservation was advised as a precautionary measure. Several road closures, including the Ortega Highway onramp to the southbound 5 Freeway, were in place, prompting authorities to urge the public to avoid the affected areas.
