Summary
- A fire in a multi-story apartment building injured one person.
- Ten to twelve residents were displaced due to smoke and water damage.
- The fire started in a second-floor apartment on High Street.

A fire erupted in a multi-story apartment building on High Street in Naugatuck on Saturday afternoon, resulting in one injury and displacing numerous residents. The fire department responded to the incident around 1:30 p.m., finding one person already outside the building with injuries.
The blaze originated in a second-floor apartment. Firefighters observed an air conditioner engulfed in flames on the ground, initially suggesting a basement fire, but quickly determined the origin was a second-story window. The fire was contained and controlled within 20 minutes.
Smoke and water damage rendered four apartments uninhabitable, forcing 10 to 12 residents from their homes. The American Red Cross was on-site to provide assistance and arrange lodging for those affected. Firefighters from Prospect aided at the scene, while Middlebury crews covered local stations.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the local fire marshal.
