The tragic incident took place at Barlinge Chowk in the Dharampeth area as Kewate was on her routine morning walk. She was pronounced dead at the hospital due to severe injuries sustained from the collision.
Kewate, a respected yoga teacher from Khare Town, was known for her active lifestyle and dedication to teaching yoga at a local shrine. Her son reported that she left home for her usual yoga session when the accident occurred. Police have initiated an investigation, reviewing CCTV footage and tracing the vehicle's registration number, which led them to Seoni, Madhya Pradesh.
Authorities are working to identify and arrest the driver who fled the scene and subsequently abandoned the SUV in Seoni. The owner of the vehicle stated it was lent to another individual. The Sitabuldi police are pursuing leads and urging the driver to surrender for questioning.
